BIO
For over three decades, Chris Sand, a.k.a. "Sandman The Rappin’ Cowboy," has crisscrossed the country, bringing his unique mix of folk, punk, hip hop, and cowboy music to basements, barns, and dive bars. Dubbed "our Troubadour for the 21st Century" by Punk Planet in 2003, Sand’s music blends rap, comedy, and rural poetics to build connections and tell stories.
A native of western Montana, Chris was the subject of the 2010 documentary Roll Out, Cowboy, which captured his life as a musician, activist, trucker, and poet. In 2023, he released his first children's album, Magic Beans, followed by the 42-minute country-rock opus, Non-Judgment Day, with his multi-member band. As No Depression's Grant Alden wrote, Sand’s songs rise from the same dusty world Woody Guthrie wrote about, "without being mired in the dust of Guthrie's tradition."
